Recently, the SCUPI Beijing Alumni Gathering was successfully held in Beijing. Centered around the theme “Reconnecting and Looking Ahead,” the event brought together alumni from various graduating cohorts to reminisce about their campus days, exchange insights on career development, and explore future trends in their respective fields.

During the sharing session, Longfei He (Manfred), a graduate of the Class of 2020, drew from his own professional journey to offer reflections on workplace growth and practical career experiences. Hekai Xu (Eric), from the Class of 2019, delivered a thematic presentation on “The Development and Future of Artificial Intelligence.” He also offered candid and practical advice on frequently asked questions, including “Whether to choose a large corporation or a startup,” “Whether to switch majors,” “How to navigate relationships with advisors and supervisors,” and “Strategies for tackling challenges in research and the workplace.” The interactive session was lively and engaging, fostering a strong sense of community.

Institute leadership also attended the event in person, extending their best wishes and encouragement to the alumni. Associate Dean TZ Mai reflected on the original purpose behind the establishment of the SCUPI Alumni Association and underscored the significant role that the alumni network plays in the growth of both individuals and the Institution. He remarked, “The Institute will always be a home for our alumni. No matter where you are, the SCUPI Alumni Association platform will continue to offer its support.” Associate Dean Mai encouraged the alumni to maintain a positive outlook, embrace new challenges with courage, and fearlessly explore the many possibilities life has to offer.

Dean Minking Chyu briefly updated the alumni on the Institute’s recent developments and expressed his gratitude for their longstanding care and support. He stated, “The Institute stands as a solid pillar of support for every alumnus, and we take immense pride in each of your accomplishments. We warmly welcome you back to visit often, and we look forward to your active involvement in the Institute’s future growth and development.”

During the exchange session, alumni from the Class of 2019 through the Class of 2025 engaged in dynamic discussions on topics such as further studies, career pursuits, and industry trends, drawing inspiration and valuable takeaways from one another. The event drew to a close in a warm and vibrant atmosphere, with participants bidding farewell and looking forward to future reunions.

Sichuan University – Pittsburgh Institute is steadfast in its commitment to building strong bridges of communication between alumni and the Institute, as well as among alumni themselves. In the future, the Institute will continue to leverage diverse activities and platforms to unite more alumni, fostering a mutually supportive, collaborative, and ever-growing SCUPI alumni community.
